We’re on the lookout for a (or is it an?) HTML/CSS rockstar to join the team here at Ponoko. I’m keen to find someone who leans towards the design end of the spectrum rather than development – possibly you have experience in design production too.
If you’re keen to get out of a services company, to work in the chaos that is a product company going global from Wellington with a truly game-changing idea, then we’d really like to hear from you. We can promise you chaos, experience, “frickin’ lasers” and a small bunch of fun crazy people to work with.
So the choice is yours. You could work with Jeff… or you can work with me

It’s “an” I believe.

Interesting, I’ve always wondered if it was based on how it sounds (an HTML page) or what the acronym stands for (a HyperText Markup Language page)…

Always safe to go with sound. Language is aural, written is just an exception. (IMHO!

yeah i agree “an html” or a hyper…
… btw, i made up this css joke – stop me if you’ve heard this…
“A CSS file walks into a bar and the bouncer says,
‘Excuse me, can I see some ID…’. The CSS file says, ‘no, i’m too classy’…”
my friend Ali made one up,
“A CSS file walks up to the bar and says “Hey! Whats this table doing here?!”
and his also,
“A sequel statement walks into a bar and walks up to two tables and says ‘can i join you?’…”
Yeah, you gotta keep yourself amused when waiting for the tube i guess. :p

Yes, it does ‘sound’ like most acronyms would be ‘an’. I would expect An SQL statement to walk into a bar, but I pronounce it “Es Que Elle”. It would be ‘A’, if pronounced “Cee Quil”.
I was going to comment about the fricken lazers… are there also frickin’ sharks?

We tried to get frickin’ sharks but because they are on the endangered species list it would have taken months to clear up all the red tape.
We do have some mutated sea bass though. And they are ill tempered.

For what it’s worth, it’s “a”, not “an”. In spoken language it’s “an” since “HTML” is pronounced with a beginning vowel. In written text, however, you always use the correct grammatical term, which would be “a”, as “HTML” begins with a consonant, an “H”.
Hope that made sense
